Robert’s Story, A Case Study on Robert East’s Estate, by Francisco Guajardo
Mr. Guarjardo will tell the story of Robert East's heavily contested estate. The 250,000 acre South Texas ranch became the center of family conflict when Robert passed away in 2007. The East Ranch has a long storied history as a former King Ranch property.
Francisco Guajardo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Museum of South Texas History in Edinburg, a position he has had since 2019. Before that, he was a professor at the University of Texas-Pan American and became part of the founding faculty to establish the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2015. He was raised in Elsa and studied at the University of Texas, where he earned a BA in English, an MA in History, and a Ph.D. in History. Dr. Guajardo has published widely and is committed to finding and telling compelling stories about South Texas.
